UPDATE: June 18, 9:30 a.m.

Firefighters are being flown in and will search on foot to locate a small wildfire burning in Halfmoon Bay.

BC Wildfire Service information officer Sarah Budd said an initial attack crew, a response officer and a helicopter are in the area on Wednesday.

“At this point, they’re still looking to get eyes on the fire,” said Budd. “They are working on finding the fire.”

Firefighters not being able to locate it demonstrates how small it is, she added.

“We are going to [get] rain today so that also helps.”

An update on the fire is expected from BCWS later Wednesday.

A staff member at Homesite Creek Campground said the fire is not anywhere near their campground. They have been spoken with BCWS and were told firefighters are looking for the fire.
